Philosophy is just science for people who are too lazy to do experiments outside of their imagination, and think that proof is optional when confirming a hypothesis.

Physicists don't tackle philosophical questions because they have standards.

Philosophy is not about making hypothesis and testing them in the scientific sense. There aren't claims made about the physical world which demand such testing. Philosophy is a pursuit of a meaningful life, no science can derive this from the physical world. The physical world simply IS.

They used to. A lot. In the last 60 years there's been more we could do calculating and accelerating particles rather than philosophizing. We'll have to start up again sooner or later though, as we've sort of hit a wall.
