All hospitals should offer free screening for genetic disease for all couple who want a child. Just so that the couple would be more open to adoption, not that their aren't a lot of children with chronic diseases in orphanages. Genetic health science has nothing to do with eugenics, it is the complete opposite, while eugenicists regularly use politicization and phrenology style pseudo-science, geneticists stringently employ scientific method and keep their findings open to criticism and peer review.

TL,DR: Genetic technology negates the need for old-style sterilize and euthanize negative eugenics; GATTACA is our future. Why kill or sterilize genetically "inferior" individuals when you can just make sure that their offspring don't carry their inferior genetic traits?

Isn't the loss of variation the primary gripe for eugenics?
If everyone were similar (which they would be if people were picking the 'best' traits for their kids) then it would increase the likelihood of some new pathogen or whatnot wiping out the species.
