The two don't cancel each other out. In fact they basically complement each other, negating most of the negative aspects but retaining the positive mood/behavioural alterations.
Maybe not any use for study, but great for partying.

Xanax = decreased cognitive ability, slowed reflexes, your ENTIRE CNS slows down.
Ritalin = increases dopamine, increases physiological arousal, increases activity in those areas which are already active.

It's a retarded combo. If I want to feel fucked I'll use drugs which are better at doing so rather than using a combo of pills any 12yo can get.

you're not understaning how drugs work. Ritalin and xanax act on different neurotransmitter systems with completely different distributions throughout the brain, producing completely different effects when altered.

You can vaguely class dopamine as "CNS activating" and GABA as "CNS depressing", but this is a gross oversimplification. They're not "opposites" at all.
If you inhibit dopamine (with say anti-psychotics) you don't get alcohol-like effects, you will be dysphoric and anxious.
If you inhibit GABA you will get seizures (and probably dysphoria too).

tl,dr: coke/ritalin/speed activate specific neurons in our reward systems giving us a subjective feeling of increased motivation (as well as side effects)
Alcohol/benzos/ghb deactivate specific neurons in some other part of the brain related to social restraint (they also deactivate specific neurons that are responsible for limiting endorphin release in the reward system) (aswell as side effects)

Take both at the same time and you will get both the positive effects i mentioned here.

Once again, you highlight what I've said without actually saying anything. I don't even see what this is about. I said that xanax and rits are a retarded combo.

Just because you might be a little more confident, doesn't mean you're any better for it. Perhaps if you took a buttload of rits or molly's and something like... morphine. In effect that'd just be leading to being something like coke + alcohol.

Benzo's and alcohol aren't a great idea either as I think the alcohol would only serve to potentiate the effects of the benzo, thus leading to blackouts

Both drugs are pro-euphoric, and neither are in any way anti-euphoric. so mixing the two gives you the euphoria of both.

people have no problem with alcohol + coke, in fact most will recognise that it's better than either alone. Simmilarly with xanax + ritalin.

yeah i mean, in general it's probably not a good idea, but one of the best drug combo's i've tried was heroin+coke

but i suppose you can't really beat just smoking weed and getting really, really high when you're tweaking on speed. you just get higher and higher and higher.
