What does /sci/ think of opiates?

Pic somewhat related

>> No.3204442

i too am interested

Did kratom and codeine a few times. I feel like part of some neuropsychological elite now that i'm able to tell the specific feeling of an endorphin release as i go about my life.

But i've had my fun now and I wouldn't use them recreationally.
I'd be tempted to try oxycodone and the like if i knew someone with them but I wouldn't give in.
Opiates are pretty addictive and they're pretty shit drugs. Sure, you feel great. but they don't really alter your conciousness in any way. You don't gain anything from the experience. You just feel good for a few hours. Other drugs help you socialise or gain new insights, which is why i like to think i do them.

When used for a simple buzz they are fine. A lot cleaner than getting tipsy on beer, and just as enjoyable alone.

For me, 25 mg of codeine, re-upped with another 25 after six hours, is fine for this. Take more than that, and you start to build tolerance, and you stop feeling the buzz.

>>3204508

25mg is quite low. can you even feel a buzz at that level?
Also alcohol is only good when you're socialising. Weed ftw!

Yeah, most junkies don't know how I feel anything at that level. But it's a subtle buzz. Not nodding, just filing the edges off. I don't like getting wasted drunk, or tripping out, or anything like that either.

If I'm a bit stoned as well, it's epic.

But then again, I do take a little codeine almost every other day. Usually 25, sometimes 25*2. So maybe as a habit it's just as bad as taking more, less often.

Personally, they help me be able to think. I don't get as distracted as I normally would, and it's much easier for me to get work done.

Also, I am also much more social when on some oxycodone. Granted, my body chemistry isn't exactly normal or widespread, but I know of more people who were able to relax and get something done on opiates than people who hallucinated on pot.

Personally, I find heroin, fentanyl, and oxycodone to be extremely pleasurable ways to pass the time.

However, you might be better suited if you typed "20" beween "4" and "chan"

fuck opiates.

Smoke weed everyday.

Turns you into an emaciated fuck up who steals from their friends and family. Maybe cannabis and LSD should be legal but not this and if you disagree you're a retard.

Because I'm sure the people on stonerchan would be able to tell me what people from a similar background/lifestyle think of opiates?
There is a reason why I asked /sci/ and not /soc/ or /adv/. I enjoy this board because just about every thread is relevant to my interests, because many people who frequent here also enjoy science.

I understand, but opiate appreciation is not science.

>> No.3207250

Great, I just came over to /sci/ to ask an opiate related question.
What do you guys know about codeine's "ceiling dose" effect and how do you prevent it?

Also, how well does codeine work if administered intranasally as opposed to orally? Normally it's a bad idea to try snorting codeine because of the acetaminophen in Tylenol 3s (which is very bad for your septum), but I've got with me a bottle of single-ingredient liquid codeine and was thinking about maybe doing a nasal-spray type thing.

>> No.3207268

>>3204667
When you say 25, do you mean 25 pills or 25 milligrams?
If you mean 25 pills (assuming Tylenol 3s) you are killing your liver with the APAP. If you mean 25mg than it's a placebo effect, because 30mg is the threshold dose for analgesic effects (let alone any sort of buzz).

Either you're trying to prove a really weak point or you're some normalfag who just came here. Not too many posts on here actually have much to do with science. Mostly opinions with scientific reasoning behind them.

Heroin is great

I got enough of a buzz so as i could link up the the rational concept of "endorphin release" with the specific concious feeling of an endorphin rush.
and thus whenever i'm having a wank or doing anything endorphiny i can focus better on the feeling and enjoy it much better.
Being able to quantify dopamine and endorphin buzzes in my brain also makes me much better at telling how good things feel relative to each other and thus imo live a more fulfilling life.

I'm sorry that i didn't need to slam heroin to get what I wanted from that class of drugs.
