Wilson is 81 (seriously, how many 80 year olds have revolutionized science?), his career is over.

Nowak is a tenured Harvard professor, so he doesn't have anything at stake. As for his reputation, he's associated with the Templeton Foundation (serves as a board member, and receives 12 million $, talk about conflict of interest) and is also financed by a convicted sexual offender, Jeffrey Epstein. He obviously doesn't care about his reputation.
