what is the reason the dodo bird has not been brought back ?
am i wrong in beliving they should be able to recover the DNA and inject it into the embryo of a modern bird?
anyone know more about this?

Why should we bring it back?

>> No.3201191

1) Yes you are wrong its not that easy.
2) Why would we do this in the first place?

we dont have the technology yet i think your confusing science with scifi

they tasted good enough to eat them into extinction
and now we gots none left

we'd hafta grow the bastard in-vitro (man-made dodo egg). we can barely even grow a human bladder atm

cool idea tho. i'd give it 15 years of well funded r&d.

yet?
so is there an effort being made to preserve whatever biological material does exist?
how far away are we? what do we need to develop
>>3201191
to prove we can.. and we might find ourselves in need of this ability

What would be the point? A tiny gene pool would just lead to inbreeding.
Its basically as useful as breeding Ligers for pure vanity.

There is a lot more to a creature than it's DNA Op.

>> No.3202974

>>3202972
No there isnt
the DNA is the exact blueprint for making that organism.
If you have the DNA, you can make the organism.

The DNA will be a different shape depending on the temperature, there's no part of the DNA that will tell you what temperature you need to start gestation with.

And that's just the start of it.
