No matter how good you can make your solar panels there is a finite amount of energy that actually hits the earth so that means miles and miles and miles of panels ruining the landscape just to collect it. Ignoring the materials required to manufacture them in the first place.

Because these sources (Solar, Wind and other hippie sources) are impractical in terms of efficiency and cost.
