I too am a cynic. Although, I hold some hope. I think we could do it if we believed in these truths:

1. There is no race. It's a lie. It was an ignorant belief that later was found out and yet people raise their flags to a facade that divides us.

2. That although every human is different, we are all worthy of respect and that ability is not what should deem us worthy, nor our gender, nor our 'non-existent' races or cultures. Actions are what deem us worthy of being humans.

3. Culture is a social construct. It's a vehicle. Create one that makes our journey in life one filled with hope and promise; with respect for every human regardless of gender or age.

4. Not all humans are humane. Identify those who lack humanity. Teach them how to carry a heart but if they can't--protect the rest from them because a man/woman with no heart is a dangerous beast.

5. Although we are all born with hearts, we need to be taught compassion well. Let it be the job of every man and woman to show our progeny that the history of humans is not defined by blood but by grace and integrity.
