A challenge appears!

2(x - 1) + 4x = 3(x + 1) - 4

>Linear equation

Are you fucking 11?

>> No.3135836

I could tell you the answer but I am not doing grade 9 math.

Just being sarcastic.
The answer is 1/3 or 0.33

I guess I should take this board more seriously.

Linear equation?
Looks like elementary algebra to me

>> No.3135895

so zero multiplied by x will give you an integer? I thought this was an integral domain?

>> No.3135911

3/1, or 1.3 repeating.

>> No.3135913

2(x - 1) + 4x = 3(x + 1) - 4
2x - 2 + 4x = 3x + 3 - 4
4x - 2 = 3x - 1
7x - 2 = -1
7x = -1 + 2 = 1
x = 1/7

Theres no way I can comprehend the thought process that led to this.

>>3135913

hahaha retard

>> No.3135921

It's (3/1)^-1

>> No.3135928

2(x - 1) + 4x = 3(x + 1) - 4
2x - 2 + 4x = 3x + 3 - 4
3x - 2 = - 1
3x + 1
x = 1/3

Thanks for the revision there

Elementary? I've been dong this shit since I was in the womb.

>> No.3135942

Lets do this the retarded midget way
2(x - 1) + 4x = 3(x + 1) - 4
6x-2=3x-1
divide both sides by 3x-1
2 = 1
Therefore you divded by zero, so 3x-1 must be zero
so x = 1/3

omgwat. Z or R or C are integer domains. there are no zero divisors so we can apply the zero product property. it isn't that we divided by zero

>> No.3136007

>>3135961
Idiot.

If you have a linear equation, and by dividing you get a false equation, it means you divided by zero.
