For some reason, I get the feeling that in the next generation (basically the millennials as adults), there will be a more conservative-leaning society than right now. I just have a hunch things will sort of go back a bit to more strict social standards.

What do you think?

Why do you think that? The pattern of progress has always been that the newest generation is more liberal than the previous ones. And seeing as how the millennials are all still prepubescent children I don't think we have any indication yet of what their political leanings will be.

Conservatism (lack of change) is a loosing battle by definition. Society always has, and always will change. Our values, moral, and lifestyles change with every decade. The people stuck in the past (conservatives) eventually die out. Society always becomes more liberal, and will always seek change.

What we think of as "conservative" today is actually pretty liberal. "Conservatism" is constantly redefined. Basically conservatism becomes more and more liberal as time goes by. The "conservative ideas" we have today, would actually be really fucking "liberal" to a conservative who lived 100 years ago.

The conservatives of our generation are, for the most part increasingly identifying themselves as Libertarian. There will still be two parties, but by the time we become the voting class, the Republican party will have been taken over by Libertarians. The only two parties left will be the hardcore liberals/Communists (socially liberal, fiscal authoritarians) and Libertarians (socially liberal, fiscal conservatives) dominating the political realm.

Who get to be one one to say when society is "good" and no longer needs to change then? At what point do we say, we are done? Did we already go too far? Should we re-enslave the blacks? Should we subjugate the women again? Are do we still have a way to go? Do we wait until gays can marry?

Who decides when society is "perfect" and doesn't need to be changed?

You are part of a loosing argument son. You only way you feel like you do, because you're either uneducated, or hang out with way too many old people.

Meanwhile, the status quo is the same as it has been since 1776, the rich run the country and get richer while the poor remain ignorant and struggling to get by, nationalism and religion buy their compliance and obedience to the status quo and the reforms that do pass are never satisfactory but always just enough to maintain order, capitalists and businessmen buy the government and the labor of the nation and those who protest are either bought or marginalized, and as happens so often in history the rich get richer while the poor get poorer.

So who, exactly, is winning again?

Agreed. American Conservatives (republicans) are a dying breed. In 10-15 years, there won't even be a republican party anymore. They are too stuck in the past, and are not producing any canidates capable of winning the presidency. They have become a side-show, not a real political party.

If you vote for a conservative canidate, you are just helping the rich get richer, and the poor get poorer. Is that what you are trying to say? Well, that is a very astute observation you have.

Conservatives (republicans) generally do more for the rich, then the poor or middle class. They are the ones who want to stop medicare, medicade, etc. Likewise, they are trying to destroyed the unions (which are for the poor and middle class), and they gave "citizenship rights" to corperations. Yes, the republicans (conservatives) is the party of the rich. It is to keep the "statquo". They don't like change, they want to keep the rich rich, and the poor poor.

Not to say that the other party is perfect, but goddamm, it isnt as fucking horrible as the conservatives. At least they care about the poor and middle class. If all the US gov were republicans, there would be no middle class, only really really really poor, and very very rich. Yet, dumb poor people will continue to vote republican.....LMFAO

First of all, your democratic party brainwashing is showing, and it's so pathetic to see that you believe this tripe that I actually feel bad for you.

Secondly, the point of my post wasn't to support the republicans at all, merely to point out that, although liberalism makes constant incremental advances to give liberals the impression that their ideology is winning, the status quo is staying the same and conservatives don't actually want to fuck the poor and leave them to starve or sell them into slavery, they merely want to preserve the status quo because it benefits them, and despite the creeping tide of liberal progress the status quo stays the same which is the ultimate goal of conservatives.

>Some actual point you can try to make?

Hm, let's see the points you made that I didn't counter.

>American Conservatives (republicans) are a dying breed.

Ok, that's the point you're trying to make, let's see how you support t.
>In 10-15 years, there won't even be a republican party anymore.

Highly unlikely, seeing as the republican party's existed for over a century and a half and controls the majority of the House of Representatives, but again, this is the claim you're making, obviously not support.

>They are too stuck in the past,

Based on...what? The proportion of young people who vote conservative is increasing, and young people are the most liberal demographic outside of gays and blacks.

>and are not producing any canidates capable of winning the presidency.

Well, currently they haven't found a figure to rally behind, but with the election a year and a half away this claim is hasty enough to mean nothing.

>They have become a side-show, not a real political party.

Which is why they control the majority of the House of Representatives?

It'd be amusing how you're telling me to make some points when you're drooling retarded baseless claims all over the thread if your beliefs weren't so pathetically naive. Seriously, I get not liking republicans, a lot of them are cunts, but you seem to be so hopelessly out of touch with reality that you don't even understand that a lot of people support them.

You really think that the "status quo" of the USA in 2011 is the same as it was in 1800, and that all sociopolitical change has been insignifigant? WTF?

You need to pick up a history book pal. The vast majority of morals, values, and rights for the average american are drastically different. Of course we are still a capatalistic society, but WTF does that have to do with anything? No one is arguing against capatalism here? Both the political parties in the USA are PRO capatalism.....DURRR.

What point are you even trying to make? Are you against capatalism? Or do you just like to mention stuff that has nothing to do with the conversation?

Did you know that we still breathe air as well? OMFG? yes, it is true, we still breath air like we did in the 1800's, so that means that the conservatives (who dont want change) must be winning? CAUSE WE SILL BREATHE AIR? WTF DUDE? You fail at logic.....LMAO

This.

For those who crave freedom, you will forced to commit to your country or die for your 'beloved' freedom.

The major civil revolts around the Mediterranean and the middle east is a survey for the rich and powerful to gauge how badly a population will react to brutal tactics and are slowly upping the levels of said brutality.

With the hyperinflation of the US dollar and the imminent default of the US of A, this could be accelerated very quickly to bring further unrest back into line.

I'm aware 1776 is a bit of a stretch, there's no denying that abolition and the civil rights movement were significant steps forward in liberal progress, but businessmen still own the government and whether blacks are the victims of slavery, segregation or a culture of ignorance is insignificant to them. You obviously have no critical thinking ability (well, aside from how pathetically brainwashed you are) if you don't understand that religion and moralism aren't important to ideological conservatives, they're just tools to control the ignorant. Regardless, you're an absolute fool if you think the status quo has done anything in the last 50 years other than tip further back to the benefit of conservatives. You aren't just ignorant and brainwashed, that would be forgivable, but you're a complete idiot, incapable of thinking past the immediate things you see around you, and you're a self-righteous idiot at that, which stops me from feeling sorry for you. The world you live in has little relation to the real world, and you're as pathetic as the rednecks who depend on Fox News and thing democrats and atheists are the servants of the devil. I'm not faulting you for choosing to live in your own little world, I'm sure it's much more pleasant than that of the rest of us, but when you start talking to other people like you aren't completely delusional it's rather abrasive.

WTF DUDE? HOW ARE YOU SO STUPID TO THINK THIS SHIT? Are you in highschool? High on drugs?

There are very fucking wealthy black people. I'm sure it matters to them. FYI: The richest people in the world are not all white-men. The richest man in the world is actually a mexican! I'm pretty sure he gives a fuck about latino rights and shit.

Capatalism comes in many shapes and forms, and the capatalism we have today is intertwined with the progress we made in civil rights, its isn't just a bunch of old white men anymore, that kinda capatalism doens't exist anymore. Social progress has effected every aspect of society, even the richest of the rich.
