I had a science quiz the other day and one of the questions was "How do electrons pair with one another?" and I felt like being a jackass so I wrote "One electron gets the other electron wasted, I'm talking like totally plastered, bro, and then they go back to the first electron's apartment to 'pair' with one another."

Was this a good idea?

Depends on the context, although a general science quiz doesn't sound to important (high school?). I guess it just depends on if your teacher finds it offensive or not, some can be really sensitive.

>PS. It wasn't funny.

Just say that electron bonding is the result of the constructive interference generated by the coupling of the electron's superposition wave states.

I like to think this is how it went down.

Making a joke to the situation means you understand what is happening 100% to the point that you can create an analogy for it.

If you did pretty good on the other parts of the quiz he/she will probably give you credit for it.

Only if the joke is clever and actually shows an understanding of the material. All he did was work out from the question itself that two electrons pair together, and made a sex analogy. Prior to seeing the question he didn't have to know they paired, and even in making the shitty joke he didn't even have to know what an electron is.
