Sorry but wouldnt those professions require secondary degrees in their respective fields? Essentially rendering an independent degree in mathematics useless.

no, a number of people from harvard, yale, princeton, stanford, MIT go to investment banking with just a BA in math

of course, if you attend alabama, you won't be getting no calls from no investment banks

and also you get on the job training you know, you aren't expected to roll in and do your job excellently on day 1

there is this thing called "entry level job"

Go to your school's career center. Almost all universities have them. They should be able to give you a better idea than some idiots on 4chan.

If you know how to program you can get a job as a programmer. (admittedly if you know how to program you can get a job as a programmer even without a higher education)

A maths degree is pretty worthless by itself. If you want any career that's maths based you need a masters at least.

A masters can offer you jobs in the financial, crypto or analysis areas.

Unless the OP has an extreme aptitude, he/she will need to spend another year specializing in order to function at the same level as somebody with a Bachelors in the chosen field, just to end up NOT using the majority of the Math that they learnt. Not using 99% of your ability in a job only tangentially related to your desired field is depressing (excluding of course analysis, statistics and data manipulation).

Mathematician here. There are jobs you can get with only an undergrad degree, but it is absolutely worth it to go for a PhD. First off, almost all people in math PhD programs have tuition waived and get a stipend, so you get paid to get your PhD. Second, when you finish your PhD you have a lot more options.

Regardless of what field you choose, you'll be able to get a good job as a software engineer (where they're actually looking for people with advanced math degrees, you'll be paid well).

>>3083855
That guy was mostly correct. Those are all jobs you can get with a math degree. I would argue that people with math degrees do some of those jobs better than people with degrees in related fields. Especially in computer related fields, since many PhD programs require you to pass a programming test (and it is easier to teach a mathematician how to program than it is a comp scientist advanced math, in most cases).

math has the HIGHEST drop out rate for grad school. Why?

It's hard. It's filled with nothing but the brightest mind. Trust me. If you think you are smart, you are not.

But if you want a ridiculously easy way to earn money, do applied maths then apply to be a quantitive analyst. Job is in high demand, ridiculous pay, easy to do.

>>3085896
>implying maths is hard

Lol. Besides maths dropouts are due to autistics who can't cope with school.
