For those of you who dont know how to use it.. F3 is the find tool and pressing g goes to the current target. Press esc for all the menus.

I just found Celestia yesterday, been having fun zipping around the solar system, and checking out extrasolar planets. Downloadin' now, what's it like?

you need to get close to the star to actually see it in 3d. Otherwise it is just a .jpeg to save memory.

sad when /sci/ will argue about mundane things, but when it comes to actual scientific stuff they don't bother

How do you go about exploring? Dicking around in Celestia I hopped between stars, but saw very little. Only way to find an extrasolar planet there is to browse a star with planets, then click 'goto' on the world.

Am I the only one who gets a little uncomfortable playing this? Maybe it's just the sheer size of the universe, but something about flying around the stars at warp factor awesome just makes me feel unsettled.

zipping from star to star feels strangely natural to me, and I lose track of the Sol system quickly as I venture out among the stars.
Perhaps it's simply a matter of perspective?
