when we are able to beam ourselfs we could save the" information stream" on a "harddisk" and make a "rl savegame".
shit would be cash.

But if you died you would still be dead and a clone would be living your life.

yes, but doesnt matter. it would have your memories and there would be no difference!

From the point of view of the clone it wouldn't make a difference thuogh. Just as I'm not the same person I was five minutes ago, and I won't be the same person in five minutes. And every interation of my conciousness is gone forever. But as the current me, I don't give a shit, and I don't think any of the future iterations of my non-static self will give a shit either.

*no difference to anyone else

The difference would be that's someone else living as you. No one else could tell the difference. But that's not you. You're dead.

Discontinious conciousness. The clone won't give a shit, and I'm dead, so I can't give a shit.

NO PROBLEM.

>> No.3007019

The solution to the (being dead/clone living as you) problem is to have a living clone that is syncing with you in real time so that you are sharing a single consciousness between 2 bodies. Then when 1 dies you dont even lose consciousness, it would be like losing an arm or leg, which is then replaced.

Solution: Become the stored consciousness, and be beamed into pod bodies whenever you want to do human stuff.

Again, I don't really get that. If he really is an exact copy, does it matter if the information stored in it's brain was formed by interaction with the enviroment, or copied from another brain where the information had been formed by interaction with the environment?

>> No.3007140

if it's a 1:1 copy of your brain with all your thoughts, etc the clone would be you right at the moment when the copy was made. it would be like waking up from sleep.

>> No.3007236

The problem lays in how does anyone define oneself. I think we all agree we exist in a continuum, but to what extent we disagree. For example if a 1 square cm part of your brain has to be replace by a mechanical part we would agree you are still the same person. But what if half of your brain needs to be replaced? People would have different thoughts.

There is also a conflict how a person defines something and how groups define something. If I think putting my brain in a digital robot brain would still be me, would people treat me as a new entity or as me? Would the police let me enter my house? What if I have a wife who doesn't agree the robot entity is me?
