why do potheads think that they can't get addicted to pot.

it... confounds me.

Troll?

You cannot become physically addicted to marijuana. It is not possible. You can become addicted to it the way you are addicted to video games or television, but not physically.

You're an idiot.

so you can become addicted like you would be to sex then?

Because it is not a drug that you can get a physical addiction to.

You can get physical addictions to caffeine, nicotine, most prescription sleep aids, alcohol, cocaine, many other illegal substances, but not pot.

You can get addicted to it, like some people claim to get addicted video games, or over eating, but not an actual physical addiction.

Can you get withdrawal after quitting pot after smoking for a long time?
If yes, you were addicted.
If no, you weren't.

New Zealander here (Kiwifag?).

Check the pic: This shit has recently come out on the market. It's basically an "alternative, legal high" for marijuana. I was actually astounded to find out that it's actually similar in terms of potency and feel to marijuana. "Legal highs" tend to be bogus, so ofc I was skeptical.

But the shit's legit. Literally, it's legal, although it's getting a ton of media attention now. But it's kind of head-banging, really: They're ok with this mix of a ton of different psychoactive herbs, but they freak the fuck out if they happen to find a bit of weed? There's no way all of these various herbs have had nearly the same amount of research on them.

I do know about them, that is why I included the last sentence mentioning some things you can get "addicted" to. Over eating, video games, later I mentioned sex.

I've seen so many people who got addicted to pot. They claim its not addictive/they arent addicted to it but its obvious they are. They immediately start smoking when they wake up and continue to do so all day. Not smoking for half a day is considered a long time for them. Many even joke about needing it to function while claiming they arent addicted. If thats not addiction I dont know what is. If I woke up and immediately started drinking and continued to do so throughout the day there would be no question about my alcoholism. Why is weed different?

blatant non sequiter.

death is proof that some addiction is physical, not proof that some addiction is not.

you have poor logic skills

all psychological addiction has a physical basis, in brain chemistry or structure.

obvious one is cocaine, which has negligible "physical" addiction outside the brain, but is dopaminergic to such a degree that "psychological" addiction is massive.

I smoked weed every day for a month, I quit for a week without feeling any withdrawal symptoms, or any need to smoke it, the only "addiction" to it is "some weed would be nice right now", which is even a rare thought.

i'm not claiming weed is addictive, just that the phys/psych distinction between addictions is false

but also you should understand anecdote is not evidence

>> No.2913276

The biggest danger from weed is that people think there are no dangers so people start using it without any restraint. Somebody starts smoking weed and next thing you know they are failing school and quit their job because they are too high and lazy all day to do anything. The entire time they deny its because of weed because "its not addictive," even though they are clearly addicted to it and its ruining their life. Similar shit happens with other things too. Everything in moderation.

Okay. But then there are some drugs with very noticable, heavy and proven "side-effects" that are had when you stop using them. Take heroin for example, weed does not have that.

I smoked everyday for a year and a half while in my second year at uni. One day I could no longer afford weed and so I stopped. Thought to myself, well it will just be a short break I'll have the money to start again in a month. Been about 5 months now and I can definitely afford it however I'd rather just save my money and only smoke when out with friends. I do miss it though, ever time I see a sunset it reminds me of weed and how beautiful everything is while smoking.

Weed is not addictive for people with self control. Moderation is the key.
