So /sci/ I need some problem solvers, because I'm awful at problem solving.

My girlfriend LOVES problem solving and knows I suck at it, so she made me an offer, which is this: Figure this out and she'll do ANYTHING I want, yes ANYTHING.

This is where you come in.

Here is what the rules and what not are.

A farmer is dying and he has four sons. Each son gets a house and a barn. There can be NO land wasted and each son gets a barn and a house. The area and shape MUST be the same, BUT they can be different rotations.

As I said, I'm confused, so even advice will do.

[sarcasm] really well explained problem OP [/sarcasm]

Wow, yeah....umm that...there's no explaining that...I just failed.

presumably the pic is related (and you exchanged the word house for home for no reason whatsoever)
..just explain slowly and clearly what we are actually supposed to do.

>> No.2871053

>>2871041
Okay, sorry I rushed through that.

Each son get's a home and a barn. The shape and area MUST be the same as the others, but the rotation doesn't matter.

>> No.2871057

All the land that goes to one son has to be 'touching', or can it be separated in two or more parts?

>> No.2871060

That still gives us no help.

Just give each son 1 house and 1 barn, why is this not a valid answer?

>> No.2871061

>>2871053
Is there, like, an area of land they need around it or something? I still don't know what you're trying to say.

>> No.2871066

I think he has to divide all the terrain between the sons, so split it in four parts with the same shape, and each one has to get a house and a barn.

If this is the problem I'm not sure it can be solved.

>> No.2871067

ITT, either OP's girlfriend is trolling him with fake promises of phantom blowj00rbs as a reward for an impossible and purposefully badly explained task etc, or OP is trolling us.

either way, i'm out.

10/10 for managing this many replies without posting a question yet.

>> No.2871072

>>2871057
Yes, all touching.
>>2871060
Because they all need the same amount of land and that land must be the same shape and area.
>>2871061
Yeah, there's an area of land, the only rules I got for this are, well this:
Each child gets 1 barn and house. Same area and shape.

>> No.2871075

Okay first off, the grid is 6x6 so it has 36 squares so each son gets 9 squares

I can't see how the same shape is possible, but hey, you've got your areas here.
I hope it's good enough,

>> No.2871082

>>2871075
Yes, I've figured that much out thus far.
>>2871073
Fine, here's a question:
How do I do it?

>> No.2871098

Same shape won't be possible. Unless theres hidden meaning in your garbled mess of rules

>> No.2871106

36/4=9

Is there something I'm missing here?

I think your girlfriend is giving you an impossible problem to solve cause maybe... she doesn't want to be nailed from behind with a 12 inch strap on whilst having her tits shat on by 2 black men who are both slapping her face.

Well obviously this depends on what shapes can tesselate to fit in a 6x6 square and have 9 squares each. Since the only shape that can doe this is a 3x3 square then it's impossible.

Those problems are super easy to make, less easy to solve. To create one just divide a grid into some fuck-tarded pattern where all the shapes are the same. Then draw in barns and homes as you see fit.

i think not.

>> No.2871371

If they have to tesselate then one piece can only occupy spaces in one 3x6 half of the square or they block other shapes from entering the other half, on the western half there are only 2 reds and one blue, on the southern half there are only 2 blues and one red, a rough guess is that the furtherst blue from the red are not linked.

From this information you can deduce the answer without having to test a bajillion possibilities.
