Science and humanity= progress
but Science and humanity also= even worse wars.

Should we further progress technology? I'm not a cynic but with further development of science, war will never be the same.

I remember the days when war had rules. The industrial revolution just scrapped that and returned us to barbaric animals killing each other.

War is inevitable OP.

I just can't wait till the science we've been progressing with will kill us all.

Remember, 4th world war will be fought with sticks and stones.

technology is a tool (kind of like you) a tool is only bad if used that way

Not OP but we all know science is only good for feeling our hedonistic lifestyles and effectively killing ourselves.

ITT: Luddites who want to go back to our evolutionary childhood where it's all "comfy and safe".

OP is right before Industry, war had rules.

You stood in straight lines and fired, when the sun went down you went to sleep. No fighting during holidays.

Trench warfare changed the world.

>> No.2720864

all i know is that early wars between tribes, women and children were taken as slaved and raped. maybe it was the rule then though

If you could hear, at every jolt, the blood
Come gargling from the froth-corrupted lungs,
Obscene as cancer, bitter as the cud
Of vile, incurable sores on innocent tongues,
My friend, you would not tell with such high zest
To children ardent for some desperate glory,
The old Lie; Dulce et Decorum est
Pro patria mori.

building stronger weapons can lead to 2 situations on the long term:
- universal peace
- destruction of the human race
Actually the second is more probable, (see zero hedge's quote "on a long enough timeline, the survival rate for everyone drops to zero").
I don't dislike the idea of humanity disappear, but I would shit myself if i looked out of my window and only saw a white light, knowing that i will die in seconds, or suffer from terrible mutations, and there's nothing i can do to defend myself.

I think we should have just taken care of Russians after WW II so they would not have been able to meddle in the world and create all sorts of fucked up situations.

World would be a much better place.

There are still rules, but America doesn't follow them.

Actually so far nukes have not been used in war since 1945. considering their immense power, I think that world peace could be achieved. Hence the policy known as "nuclear deterrent".

I can kill religious retards and colonize space at the same time!

It's ironic that atheists always want religious fanatics dead and when we actually do it you bitch.

>> No.2721160

America is a religion in and of itself.

God = Amurikka
Prophet = Founding fathers.
Holy book = Constitution.
Saints = War veterans.
Principles = Bill of rights.
Sacred places = Valley forge, other war sites.
Evangelization = Democracy.

>> No.2721193

Eventually we'll just have robots fighting other robots...Sounds good to me...ROBOT WARS! FUCK YEAH!

>God = Amurikka
Yeah no, we think our god are ourselves(in a political sense)

We rule ourselves, that is the basic tenet of individualism.
>Prophet = Founding fathers.
I think you mean prophets
also seeing as they created one of the most successful government systems that let to all modern first world governments I think they earn the praise they get.
>Holy book = Constitution.
Seeing as it the core document that led to how all prosperous nations are run I think its more qualified as a holy book then anything else.
>Saints = War veterans.
No our saints are the entrepreneurs who changes our society for the better
>Principles = Bill of rights.
Better then any other principles in the world, led to modern freedom.
>Sacred places = Valley forge, other war sites.
More like NYC, Boston, DC, White House, Capital building, Washington monument, ect...
>Evangelization = Democracy.
And this is a bad thing?
