Can anyone tell my why I have to take Calculus to get into Psychology at most universities?

>> No.2691287

to prove you aren't a moron

A little introductory analysis never hurt anyone.

>> No.2691292

Because American universities are dumb.

>> No.2691295

the same reason you had to learn elementary math at school

I'm Canadian.

>> No.2691307

i'm guessing if you pass then they may pull you out as there's still some hope. otherwise, you're free to continue your psychology curriculum.

>> No.2691313

Psych is surprisingly math-heavy for a social science.

>> No.2691374

because calculus is easy and every college student should know it

>> No.2691393

You don't at most schools. Usually they just need you to get statistics down.
>>2691313
Not really. Most analysis is strictly based on case studies.

gotta know how to manipulate statistics....can't be all lies and damn lies, dontchya know?

>take math for liberal artists
>Major in languages

Calcuwat.

>> No.2691502

>>2691393

It's not physics tier math-heavy, but it can be a surprise to people familiar with other social sciences.

>>2691428

You don't learn much about manipulating stats in a calc class. Ofc, psych students ALSO take a load of stats classes, too.

>> No.2691550

Because all majors require some "junk" courses that vaguely relate to your study. That being said, Calculus is interesting and you should be looking forward to studying it.

Psychology is very statistics-heavy, I'd be surprised if you went into it without learning statistics. Also my old psych. professor said he had to take four years of philosophy and neurology to get a bachelors in psychology.

MFW I can just take all neuro based courses for my psych undergrad.

>> No.2691602

I still say we should make it so you have to take four years of psychology and neurology in order to get a bachelors in philosophy.
