Hey /sci/, I have a question.

Is the understanding of physics enough to explain to most that religion is just a bunch of crap? If so, how?

Its not enough, they are just 'blind'. They've either grownup beleiving it or they just choose to not beleive it straight out no matter how much evidence

translation:

I dont understand it so it must be wrong

>> No.2631039

unless the religion claims that there is no gravity then nope
and if it did that would just give the apologetics a hard-on

>> No.2631044

Physicists are among the people who care less about people being religious, because we actually have stuff to do instead of wasting time bothering to care what other people say.

Go study biology or something, they have plenty of time to waste on this crap.

no we don't

go ask the psychologists

I'm just curious man. I've heard some suggest this so I was asking others to get more opinions.

No. Religion and science play on different fields: one cannot be argued with the other. Also, sage.

>> No.2631148

Sure they can. I pushed a rope up a building yesterday which proves there can't be a God. How simple minded does one have to be to know that God doesn't exist.

This thread is dildos, I'll sage too

You fail at both reasoning and sage-ing.

>> No.2631180

>>2631144
this, incompatible and separate domains, yet scientists still wish to disprove religion, and priests still wish to disprove science. in the end, nobody will win.

>> No.2631181

you don't need physics to explain religion
just think about it
when something happens that people know nothing about they call it magic or miracle or whatever
trying to explain why these things happen and meanwhile control the people was the religion's job
first gods in every culture were gods of the sun and moon
i hope from this point on you can find out for yourself how other religions came to be

>> No.2631208

>>2631181
Actually no.
If we assume the progenitor of Judaism/Christiantiy as Abram, then "God" came to him and told him "I am your God," etc etc.

It is possible Abram was sampling the mushrooms, a seriously good conman (why though?), just delusionoal or that there was and is a God.

All are possibilities. Many physicists are theists. Don't be fooled into thinking that an understanding of science = no belief in a god.

but they came with these ideas because the already knew of the old gods
they've stole the concept of god
even the things in religion are basically the same
their prophets were all born from virgins
they all have the same same days as holidays
it's nothing new.. religion just evolved with time
and it will evolve again..
but people will believe because they need to believe
it's not that hard to figure what religion is...
