Ahoy, mathfags!
I was just wondering what the odds were of two players in a game each rolling 2 dice and then one of the players rolls double 1's and the other rolls double 6's.

i know that the odds of rolling double 1's is 1 in 36 and that the same goes for rolling double 6's, but is it really as simple as the odds therefore being 2 in 72 (1 in 36)? i dont believe that it is, so im asking you.

also, would the odds of this happening be the same as if one person rolled 4 six sided dice and got 1, 1, 6, 6? i dont believe this is true either, but again i ask you for confirmation.

one full gold star to the person who answers correctly!

The chance of player 1 throwing snake eyes is 1/36
The chance of player 2 throwing double 6 is 1/36
Total chance is therefore 1/36*1/36 = 1/1296
If you don't care about which player throws which, it's 1/648.
The odds of one player throwing 1166 are much bigger.
Think about this, each dice has a name.
In the first case, A 1, B 1, C 6, D 6 is the only winning combination. If we don't care about the players, A 6, B 6, C 1, D 1 is now also a winning combo. If all dice are grouped together, A 1, B 6, C 1, D 6, for example, also becomes a winning combo.

2/36 * 2/36 = 1/324
