Of course FTL isn't the only way, we can move sub light speed, we do every day. But even at say, .5c it'd still take, say, 40.6 years to reach Gliese 581, and that's if, IF, Gliese 581 is actually habitable. So even if we manage an astounding velocity of .5c for our space crafts (which would be much, much, much, faster then the average electrcal current) it could still take thousands of years to reach a proper Earth-Like planet
