If this is Australia during the summer why is the guy wearing a flannel shirt and the girl wearing a Cal Poly sweatshirt.

The biggest clue to the dating this photo is the girls sweagshirt, as you could find identical sweatshirts and date them. Also the small book beneath the guys left knee; the cover is visible and one could find the exact book and when/where it was published.

Also, you could try looking through a gallery of old CaptnCrunch boxes.
