Look, when Justin Bieber has envious haters, it gains him more fame and he sells more records and merchandise.

When a scientist has envious haters, they get their research beaten to hell and back because it conflicts with some well-known professors' prior research (even though it's right). If they're lucky, someone will resurrect it after all their detractors have died and they can become a wikipedia footnote.

Excuses, excuses.

You all would accept $30 million if it was given to you right now, and you'd spend it.

But since that's never going to happen, since you're never going to make any real money, it's better to just pretend that you don't really care about money that much. To pretend that you're above all that. To pretend that other things are more important blah blah blah.
Gives your ego a little boost and makes you feel like you're somewhat superior.

I understand, I do the same thing.

Bieber might be able to make 30 million dollars faster than me and my college degree
but I know how to blow up 3 billion dollars if you give me a week or two.

anyways, without engineers and scientists, business men wouldn't have product to sell, the flow of goods would cease, and 30 million dollars would not be redeemable, anywhere.

and then I'd still be able to blow up tons of shit.

>> No.2472030

>>2472001
One doesn't need millions of dollars to enjoy life. It's possible even with modest sums of money.
I'd say it would even be worse if you spent most of your time actually making money instead of using it, it'd defeat the whole purpose of making money in the first place.
I'm one of the opinion that actions should be purposed for more direct interests (such an action benefits you and maybe your fellow men as well). Money is useful to have in today's world, but for individuals it just increases the quality of life up to one point and then you hit a vertical asymptote.

I make a point of forgetting them
they have no bearing on humanity's survival, which is and will always be the largest commodity.
Are architects going to ship our food around the country?
Are painters going to build the vehicles to move the goods?
Are musicians going to design fuel for those vehicles? or power our cities, or keep the water clean, or keep the hospitals open?
