I like Bradbury. I liked both The Martian Chronicles and Fahrenheit 451.

Asimov: I read him when I was younger, starting with Foundation and going through the whole series. I loved him back then but then again, I had read nothing of sci-fi. As I read other works I realized Asimov wasn't nearly all that good: He was a scientist but his Foundation series (I can't speak for the other many, many books he wrote) were all messed up scientifically, even if it was just for the plot, it was all very static (Nothing changes after thousands of years), and the characters were pretty flat. I liked the plots, but I don't know why people say his vision of the future was so amazing ( ._.)

Nanotech = AI = bullshit utopia pipe dream

Nanotech will amount to nothing more complex than cellular machinery, which isn't the god tech you make it out to be. Big advancements will come from the technology, no doubt, but your assumption that it will lead a revolution into an entirely new state of civilization is unfounded.

Hope is never a good thing to integrate into predictions either.

>> No.2383178

>>2383152

It doesn't have to be a utopia, it might as well lead into a self-destructing nanoanarchy.

>> No.2383205

>>2383178
It still relies on god tech capabilities that many not even be possible let alone predicted. The most we could hope for is the equivalent of repurposed cellular machinery.

It also seems like you are implying nanotech will bring about a sudden jump in technological power of doing. Advancements will likelly progress how they always have, one invention at a time. One person will develop a process that create one specific type of cellular machine. Another person a decade later may make the process a little easier and then a decade later another person may make it slightly more efficient. There is no reason to predict a sudden nanotech revolution.

What if Diamond Mechanosynthesis is proven feasible? Research into it is still being conducted and this will continue until someone proves it doesn't work.

That said, is there a message you would like to put onto this awesome copy pasta text for future readers to see?
