Is this possible? To be more specific, Mechanical engineering.

that is usually how it works actually

I'm engineer(college junior studying engineering actually) so I'll set you straight. It depends on what you mean by genius. If you're saying you don't have skills like Leibneiz, well that's OK. If you're talkingn about the ability to do basic integration/differentiation, solve linear ODE's, and basic matrix algebra, then yes you need to know it.

is your ass ready to take the pounding that is MECHANICS OF SOLIDS? If not, you'll need to be a math genius.

You'll probably survive. Except you'll be a bit suicidal until you learn that according to the curve, the 50 you made is considered an A.

here's my story:

barely pass intro to analysis (retarded ass proof shit)

have a 3.9 gpa through 3rd year electrical engineering.

lol derp

go for CS instead, it has much less math.

i respect it but i find it extremely stupid

Much less math than what course?
I've taken 5 pure math classes so far and I have to apply fourier transformation etc in all classes that have to do with images and visualization

>Not a math genius
Should i read this as "pretty bad, no real understanding". No, if you aren't good, or learn to be good, at math, you'll need be any decent engineer.

Although, I have seen some pretty shitty students eventually (barely) passing the coarses. Getting a job though, dunno.

I went into mechanical engineering.

You better literally mean "not a math genius", since trigonometry is still required. You don't have to be a genius, you just have to be good at trigonometry. Think you can do it?

I hate it when people consistently overstate the difficulty of lower-division maths. It's extremely formulaic, people. You jut need to exert some fucking effort.

The math of CS is more difficult than the math of ME?

engineering is primarily about creativity as opposed to mathematical or scientific mastery. its an art using math and science as a medium.

This. If you really wanted to do engineering, you wouldn't worry about something so trivial.

The results are left as an exercise for the reader.

You may have a point if all OP wants to do is learn the Mohr Circle.
