Well, A- for effort here... excellent references and I hope some of the intolerant fucktards here read a couple... but doctors do not "assign" a gender, if you're born male, they check off male, if female, they check off female. There's very RARE circumstances where it's ambiguous, so let's just keep that off the table... it's not really part of this discussion.

This comes down to the difference between gender and genetics. The doctor doesn't factor in here. You can be XY genetically and have a female gender. It's really as simple as that.
