Interesting indeed... but assuming we can artificially replicate nature that can be self-sustaining... too wishful. Maybe in about a thousand years. Even then, the size of this project would take at least a couple hundred years to build.

MMO on a full planet

It was built by the Sufficiently Advanced Aliens instead of humans.

I now want to know what it would be like if the Earth was inside out. a light source that gave off the same amount off light that reaches Earth would be at the center and moves like a lighthouse. I want to know what the sky would look like at night, what the horizon would look like, etc.

I want a game that takes place on a fucking space station. Do we have any cyberpunk MMOs?

In all seriousness though, Face of Mankind may be up your alley. Guild-warfare-based, future spaceshit game.

hmm... seems a bit, old and shitty? No offence, though, thanks for the reccomendation.

EVE is nice but there's nothing but ships, no cool planets and certainly no awesome tech related stuff. Imagine if Blizzard made some awesome scifi related MMO, I mean I've never played WoW but with that many players they have to be doing something right.

It makes me feel like NASA should have built lunar mass drivers in the 80s, so we'd have this TODAY. But pic related stopped all that.

sigh, if we spent as much as we did on videogames and entertainment as we did on space exploration, we'd actually have these things by now....

Combine the world of Warcraft with the scale of EvE online with each planet a new and unexplored place, toss in the variability of randomly-generated worlds and enable both ship - to - ship, ship-to-ground and third person rts / first-person action.

You'd create Warhammer 40k Universe.

>if we spent as much

As much what? Time? Money? As of yet there is no feasible economic reason to drive the planet's inhabitants to flee for the stars. The only point at which I can see us venturing outwards en masse for a logical reason is when the more needed of Earth's resources begin to run thin.

Aside from all that though:
Escapism: deal with it.

Well actually, there is a Warhammer 40k MMO coming out, but it looks to be little more than a reskinned WoW clone. Very underwhelming, in my opinion, though I'm sure fans of the franchise cream themselves over it.
