Just because stats can be made to say anything doesn't mean you can't argue the appropriateness of statistical tools.

For example: if 9 out of 10 people think that "My Dog Skip" is a good movie, that seems like an appropriate statistic. If 9 out of 10 people think that gang rape is acceptable, you have an inappropriate statistic.
