With most species the male is usually either absent or has to many offspring to care about a single one. Meaning it's usually only the female that actually has to defend it's offspring.

This isn't the case with humans, who evolved in a very tight group of a couple of dozen individuals. Basically, women evolved a behavior which was primarily intended to seek help rather than risk her own life. The reason for this is that groups which prioritize females over men when it comes to risking lives usually have more offspring, because a ration where males outnumber females will lead to males without mates whereas a ratio of more females than males will simply lead to a polygamist culture as it's entirely possible for one male to produce offspring with several women.

Now, this is effect is further amplifed by the fact that men are usually stronger than women, in many species both sexes are usually equal.

Actually no, most mammalian species actually have very similar males and females and those that have differences usually don't see the same kind of extremes we find in humans. I mean many biologists would even claim that if we found a speicies where males and females looked as different as humans do, we'd probably at first think they were two species living in a kind of symbiotic relationship until we realized they had similar DNA or until we saw their methods of reproduction.

That's because biologists are humans. Humans are WIRED to differentiate male humans from female humans. This is just a larger version of "all niggers look alike".
