That short story by Clarke that explains how to do Geosynchronous orbit and the cost/benefit analysis of space stations in geosynch versus a satellite network.

>> No.2161938

>>2161937

lol the guy released the story before patenting the idea and lost potential billions ;_;

If only he had lived in the US, where releasing the story would secure him the patent rights like Heinlein with the water bed and a few other things.

In any event, Clarke was hired by NASA and still responsible for building real satellites. So he still got a paycheck, though not a royalty check.

do you /sci/entists like this book?

>> No.2162122

There needs to be one of these compilations for each scientific field made. I, for one, would love to read up on some biology in my free-time.

like the /a/, /mu/, /lit/ rec charts? that would be brill. the math book just made me so excited when i found it in the lib yesterday. i like seeing things connect 8D. like that tv show - connections, genius and stuff like that.

Dr. Euler's Fabulous Formula: Cures Many Mathematical Ills by paul nahin and fermat's last theorem by amir azcel were fun to read as well.

would anybody dare to attempt creating one of those for the ultimate textbook collection? like the books to actually learn grad level maths etc

Well, we'd have to wait until the people of different mayors come along, but it should be feasible to get each one to make a list.

>> No.2162258

I'd rather have an ebook collection of the stuff, and a download link of it. You can tell me this book is the greatest of them all, but I still can't/don't want to buy it.
