my teacher kust refered to what martin luther king did to the catholic church and thats why we have so many different religions today

my question is what did the catholic church have to do with civil rites?

Martin Luther was the man who split up the Catholics in 1520.
Martin Luther King was the man who got civil rights in the 1960's.
Not the same man.

Your teacher was talking about a German monk named Martin Luther. Luther was the first person to translate the Latin Bible to a European language and founded the Lutheran Church, one of the frst Protestant churches.

The African-American priest who fronted the civil rights movement, Martin Luther King, was named after him.
