No, I'm not being sarcastic.

If you want a more practical example, try writing programs to draw fractals. So you find some really cool picture of part of the mandelbrot set, decide to recreate the picture, and you get a blank screen. So you increase the iteration count and still have a blank screen. Then you switch to distance-estimator and see really intricate patterns which weren't there before, because the "lines" are about a billionth of a pixel wide.
