Let's make a hypothetical problem, shall we?

There is a cat in a blank room. In the room, there are 2 boxes evenly spaced from each other, and both are the same distance away from the cat. Now, there is catnip placed on both of the boxes in the exact same concentratioos and have the same amount of attraction from the cat. The cat is placed on one end of the room and the boxes with the catnip are placed on the other end of the room. Remember, the room is blank, and there is nothing but the cat and the boxes with catnip on them.

Which box does the cat go to first?

There is insufficient data for a meaningful answer.

How so?

i have to agree there is insufficient information, the chances are equal and the result will be inconsequential. i suggest more weed.

The cat doesn't necessarily go to either of the boxes. It doesn't know they contain something desirable unless the boxes leak an odor.

Austic checking?

What information is lacking? The basic question is which box will the cat go to first if each box has the exact same amounts of catnip on them.

Did anyone read the part about the catnip?

He will go for the left one, because we read from left to right. Unless he's an Arabic cat.

Otherwise, assuming we can neglect all the other states the cat could be in and restrict the degrees of freedom to only one of two possible outcomes, going to box A or box B, it has a 50-50 chance.

There has to be some theory that shares the basic concept with this.

Probably the box on the right.

Neurons are incredibly unreliable. Barring any other inputs, the cat will go for either one with approximately equal probability, but due to the wiring in it's brain it could be biased in one way.

cat have a prefered side, like humans being left or right handed

Neither? Being in a vacuum (nothing else in the room right?) he cares more about his impending death than the boxes which he can't smell.

Just a guess, I'm pretty drunk.

It's like the slit experiment. If you watch it, hell take one, otherwise hell take both. Either way, cat gets high on 'nip.

There never was a cat and the catnip is, eventually, the desire of OP for his mother.

Well, for one, you said nothing about the cat other than that it's a cat.
Does it like catnip?
Does its nose work?
Do its eyes work?
Can it move?
Is it even alive?
(There's a lot more, but I think you get the point.)

Would that be maternal or sexual?
