Okay, so I need to get in touch with a theoretical or quantum physicist in order to do some research for a video series I'm developing. Anyone have any connections?

I need someone cool and who doesn't mind appearing on camera either.

Where?

Any in the Northeastern USA. I'll travel (Up to 7 hours) and have some floating crew members as far south as Washington DC and as far north as Connecticut...so I figure we've got about 10 states of coverage.

Bamp for people at Uni to see this.

Sorry, nobody I know from that area, but heres a tip.

Physicists (and scientists in general) LOVE to talk about their research, and any mention of their research will make them very amicable towards you.

Look up a professor in the physics department at several universities. find some recent papers of theirs and memorize the titles, then read a wikipedia article on the work. THEN contact them saying that you are working on a movie project and would love to talk to them informally, making sure to mention their work in the email and how FASCINATING it sounds to you.

The stuff most people work on is so specialized that having someone outside of the field mention their work is usually very heart-lifting.

Of course you could get a jackass, but thats rare in physics (watch out for asion biology researchers)

Make sure you get real scientists/engineers with a background that gives them the authority to understand and speculate on QM.

You don't want to make another "What the Bleep do we know", Wherein a bunch of saps ramble off new age pseudoscience about QM proving you can change reality by just wishing hard enough.

Try to find some engineers who deal with modern semiconductor manufacturing. They deal with QM on a practical level.

Yeah, a "bleep" fiasco is exactly what I'm trying to avoid.

I'm actually in the late stages of developing a few science-based web series, and one needs a quantum basis. I have a rocket scientist to talk to already, but no quantum physicists.

I know the science of what needs to be said, but I hold no authority as a hobbyist, so I need someone with some letters after his name. haha

What questions you got?

>> No.2102783

It's a little more in depth than that. It's more of an exploratory thing. We'd be talking about theoretical physics, exploring what is technically possible now, and what WILL be possible down the line based on the research going on now.

Well, I just entered a Phd program in the US. Have spent some time in CERN, and know some quantum shit.. though not upto the Quantum field theory level. What is it you need?

I am well versed in QM, CFT, QFT, QED, QCD, GR and the standard model. Im sure whatever questions you have would be shit tier anyway, so ask if you want, I really dont give a FUCK

That's what I'm saying, I can't just pose questions, I'd need to discuss this with you.

I would like to discuss this with you though. Shoot me an email at tricks87 (_AT_) AOL (-_DOT_-) COM (Spam Address for boards) and we can talk, and I can explain where I'm looking to go. Trust me, this is easy stuff, since it's designed for the general population, but it should allow you a chance to engage in some fun thought experiments and theorizing.

Hmmmm......how about you start explaining wtf you are talking about here. This is a perfectly good medium for discussion (unless you are not prepared yet). I got a few hours to kill.

If its pretty interesting, we can exchange emails then.

The series would focus on exploring the science in sci fi movies. Are hoverboards possible? How could a lightsaber work? Teleportation? Etc...

It would basically be taking good theoretical physics, blending it with a hint of some current research, and showing that "Maybe" this stuff will be possible, and here's how, trying to get it as close to the appearance that we see if the film, TV show, or comic as possible.

The pilot will focus on time travel as a concept, framed through the lens of Back to the Future. (All diagrams and animations will feature a Delorean as the preferred time vehicle)

Think of it like Mythbusters for physics...where all you do is try to replicate the results.

If they do, they do. We're doing this thing online, and I haven't seen anything with the production values of what I'm talking about in the form of a series yet.

Why don't you act like a professional then and go to your local university, and ask around. Why you using 4chan? It doens't make anysense? Explain please?
