Why is it legit to deny the existence of something just because we lack evidence for it?

An astronomer living in 1634 could have imagined something with such a massive grav. field that not even light couldnt escape. The astronomer community would have rejected that idea totally. But nowadays we know that black holes exist.

It's a matter of epistemology, if you cant keep up with such simple intellectual effort just leave

I am still really skeptical about all the dark energy/matter. So the only way for your equations to work is 90% of the universe must be this stuff that can neither be seen nor measured.

They didnt have evidence 300 years ago and black holes still existed.

>> No.2099032

Bring to rational people scientific evidences about something, quantify it, describe it, and they will certainly accept its existence. But this does not mean that they will accept it as their master and just prey and give their lives for it (if this is about some "god").

NOPE. Black holes were implied by Newtonian gravity and Newtonian corpuscular theory of light. And they were discussed. They only stopped being discussed because Newton's theory went out when the wave theory took its place for a while. But in 1634, black holes were indeed hypothesized.
