Well, to be fair here, we DO have shortcomings in the understanding of formation of stars and their inner workings don't seem to be as simple as we think. Just check out astrophysics papers, every month you have some "irregularites" and observations outside of expectations based on current theories.

I was going to a Christian school because of my parents. The teacher was mocking me because I thought that the Bible is bullshit. He asked me if I know how old the earth is . I say it's about 4.5 billions of years old. He says I'm wrong. He says it's 600 years old. I wtf'ed. He said six hundred not six thousand. At first I thought he just got the number wrong and I said "Doesn't the Bible say it's 6000?" He said that I know nothing about the Bible and the Earth is 600 years old.

the light is traveling in a straight line strictly speaking, its complicated but your teacher is right, as light changing it's direction without being absorbed/re-emmitted (ie refraction/reflection) would mean it has undergone acceleration (which defies our current understanding of physics, from what i understand)

i was given the analogy of someone driving in one direction, and someone lifting up the road and pointing the road in a different direction.
not a perfect analogy, but basically the path is changed, not the light, its not something i claim to understand fully, but the maths seems to work

that's not how it will go down, more likely is that the melted ice will release more CO2 into the atmosphere, resulting in more global warming.

When I was a senior in HS I took Physics with the year below me because I hadn't taken it the previous year due to a full timetable. The guy teaching us was new to the school that year so our first class must have been one of his first as well. He broke the ice with some metaphysical questions to get everyone talking about physics. One of his questions was 'how would you define matter'? Some girl gave an answers fairly acceptable for a HS level education about how it's everything around us, makes up everything etc etc. Then some smartass kid in the front row decides to ask, 'But what about antimatter?'. She asks him in return, what antimatter is. He answers her with a smug look on his face; a black hole. Seriously, that was his answer. He then looked at the teacher for approval. How the fuck the teacher didn't leave the classroom there and then with his face deeply embedded in the palm of his hand is beyond me.
From then on I held back a lot of questions I had about the shit we were learning because I knew it would go right over everyone in the class' head. I mentioned wave-particle duality once and they all about shat their pants.

Marxist theory shows its age here but there are ways around this problem.
One strand actually defines animals that are capable of work (and not instinct or use in farm labour) as human (not the biological definition, naturally)

The idea here is that if it can work, it can be exploited.

It has more to do with the tilt of the wing than the shape. The air moves faster at the top, but doesn't because it wants to meet up with the a
ir at the bottom, which is a common misunderstanding The topside air particles are actually ahead of the particles on the bottom when the streamlines converge again. Planes fly upside down simply by tilting the wings up like they would rightside-up.If Bernoulli's principle worked like described in the comic, flying upside down would make you go towards the ground instead of up.

>Diagram is of a commercial airline wing
>Commercial airlines don't fly upside down
Well, theoretically they could, but the structure wouldn't take the strain. Upside-down flight is in practice limited to acrobatic jet fighters, with straighter wings and more pronounced ailerons, rudders, and elevators. Jet fighters are much better at changing the angle of attack, generating lift when flying upside down.

Put your hand out the car window, palm down. If you tilt your hand up, the air pushes it up, and vice-versa. If you do the same with your palm up, same thing.

I'm curious as to the effects of home schooling.

What university did you end up going to?
If American, what was your SAT or ACT score?
How did you do in your first year classes in comparison to your traditionally taught classmates?
Do you feel that you have covered all the topics you otherwise would have learned or did you take the opportunity to excel in one particular area of interest?
Do you feel that there are any gaps in your knowledge in areas such as English?

They pretended to put me in the gifted program, to satisfy my mother, but it wasn't until I entered middle school that my teachers stopped treating me as though I was retarded, and I actually was put into the gifted program.

As someone who works in the education system, allow me to let you kids in on a secret:

We know some of you are lost causes.

When faced with extreme ignorance or stupidity, we cannot afford to devote the entirety of our brief class time attempting to fix years of mental neglect/abuse in one individual. There just isn't time and it isn't fair to everybody else. The only thing we can really do is to try to get them to shut up during class and try to help them afterwards, escalating to administrative staff if needed.

But the smart ones are worse. The ones who think they are too smart for school. The ones who don't put in the effort to learn because it is beneath them. They break my heart because I was one of them. It hurts, it really does, to see them waste their time fighting the system rather than using it to their advantage. Knowing that they all come to regret it is depressing. Yes, the system is broken. But that doesn't mean it isn't worth your time.

Look at how many people here in general (not just this thread) seriously believe they are "smarter than the teachers". Really? Bitch, you are not as special as you think you are. Because teachers generally have no control over the curriculum. Not in public schools, anyway.

When we deviate from the curriculum to help slower OR faster children, we tend to get disciplined or fired. Why? Parents.

Every single parent out there thinks their child is special, exempt from the rules. That fucks up the kids. When we try to help kids on either extreme end of the spectrum, parents inevitably find out and throw a royale fit. It might be the parents of the children in question, or the parents of the other kids, but either way the arguments are ALWAYS idiotic.

The only solution we have is to treat every kid the same and do our best to stretch the policies for them.

Fuck you, kid. Teachers are fucked no matter what we do. We hate the system more than you do. We are trying to improve it every fucking day, but we are ultimately taking orders from your parents and politicians, If you want to blame someone, blame your parents and blame the idiots they elected.

Sad thing I found in university is that most people in the class will be too scared to answer, and a lot of times the lecturer will wait for an answer.

Eventually I found that if I would just answer a question right and a question wrong at the start, more people would be encouraged to answer as they wouldn't be the only one who got something wrong.

Which in turn led to the whole lecture going quicker/being more interesting.

>AP bio teacher, who's a retarded sexist bitch, talks about an extra "sense" to the five senses
>ask the class what it is
>no one knows
>raise my hand and mention the "kinesthetic sense" and continue to explain what it is in detail (for the rest of the class to know what the fuck am I talking about)

>teacher" "lol, no"

>me: lol, yea

>back and forth no and yes

>I remark, "then what is it then? vestibular sense? thermoception? Nociception? MAGNETOCEPTION?" (I actually highered my voice at the last part as she was getting to me and I honestly had it with her)

>her: lol, no

>Me: then what is it then?

>her: CLASS, THE SIXTH SENSE IS.......MEAT SENSE! YES, MEAT SENSE. IT IS THE SENSE THAT DETECTS MEAT

WHEN YOU HAVE IT IN YOUR MOUTH, YOU KNOW IT IS MEAT

>me: wouldn't that belong in the subsection of basic tastes? It's not a general over-arching thing you can just group together with the main 5 senses you know. And iirc, "meat sense" is called Uma-

her: *Talked over my voice* YOU CAN EVEN KNOW WHEN IT"S ON YOUR SKIN AND AROUND YOU

Her: blah blah blah meat blah blah

>the class looks at her astonished and I ask myself what has become of my generation

Should have dared you to write you up for it. Then just respond with, ok. go for it. I'll tell the dean you think hydrogen bombs burn hydrogen with oxygen instead of using nuclear fusion. Knock yourself out while I go tell the dean you're gonna write me up for insubordination for butthurt.
Or something to that effect.
You'll feel like a million bucks while you stroll out of class.

See, I went to Christian schools my whole life, but I've never had any shit like this happen. Sure, there've been fucktards, but not for religious reasons.

Maybe because I'm in Canada.

Now, this was a simple mistake made by a teacher.
He was a pretty cool dude, and I don't want to call him stupid, he made a mistake.

Was in 9th grade science. Dumb bitch raised her hand and asked "Do we get anything from the sun? Like vitamins?"
Teacher says "Yeah, we get Vitamin A"
I raise my hand and say "But Coach, I thought it was Vitamin D."
Teacher goes "Oh, you're right. My mistake. Good job."
We proceed to bro fist.
I loved that guy.

Pic related: It's me

I'm about to leave with my girlfriend to a Halloween party, and it's going to be awesome! There's going to be TONS of beer, vodka, and hot girls. I love being a teen with a lot of friends. Only thing I'm scared about is I'm cheating on my girlfriend with two other hot babes, and they're going to be at the party.

My girlfriend has DD tits, and she's only 13; I'm 14. I get her to orgasm like every time we fuck (which is twice a day). I even got her pregnant once, but we got that little cunt aborted.

If we didn't abort that baby, that would have been bad for my MIT application. I have never gotten a grade below A+, and I'm taking Vector Calculus as a Sophomore (yes, I'm 14 and a sophomore) so my academic career would have gone to waste. Because I already got 2390 on my SAT, and both my parents teach there, I got pre-accepted into Harvard, but Harvard's shit. I want MIT.

I have straight A+'s, a nice face and body, TONS of friends and hot girls who would do anything just to get me to fuck them...I love my life so much.

This entire thread: people who believe that being right means two shits.

In this world you need to realize that things aren't necessarily logical, or fair. Does that suck, yes, but tough shit. Better men than you have tried to change that but the fact is when dealing with the human factor it's not about what's the right answer. Try pointing out the mistake next time without being a prick and maybe you won't get shafted by the teacher who is pissed he looked like an idiot in front of the class because you had to be a smartass about it. Can real geniuses get away with shit like that? Yes, but you aren't a genius, no matter what that IQ test tells you.

Senior year of highschool, we were reading Hamlet in english class.

The teacher asked us all to get out our books and told me to read about half of a page.

After I finish, this dumb blonde in the front goes "hey that sounds familiar! where is that from?"

I go "from Hamlet"

The entire class started laughing at her
