Biology question here guys. Enzyme related.

Picture unrelated.

Consider the multistep reaction Reactant intermediate

Reactant A -----> enzyme 1 -----> Intermediate B -----> enzyme 2 ------> intermediate C ------> enzyme D -------> End product D.

This binding of D decreases the activity of the enzyme 1. Compound X binds to the active site of enzyme 1 and block its activity.
What is the mechanism in which once the end product D accumulates and then inhibits the enzyme 1 early in the pathway?
1. allosteric inhibition 2. metabolic inhibition 3. reversible inhibition 4. noncooperative inhibition 5. feedback inhibition

It shuts itself off: The end product inhibits the first step in the reaction.

Another question:

One of the relationships that exists between ribosomes and lysosomes is that

1. lysosomes are produced by ribosomes and therefore contain proteins that were synthe- sized at the ribosomes.

2. lysosomes are located near ribosomes on the surface of the endoplasmic reticulum.

3. ribosomes produce enzymes that could be stored in lysosomes.

4. ribosomes produce lipids that could be stored in lysosomes.

5. lysosomes produce enzymes used in ribo- somes.

meh cant hurt manalapan high school

nope. but if you post the question in google it comes up with a PDF file on the internet. so thats where they get them. My teacher gets them from Texas University.

1. is wrong ribosomes produce proteins not organells
2. no generally lysosomes are floating around the cell membrame
3.again know ribosomes produce proteins
4. again
5. yep

They're proteases that are only active in low pH environments ('they' refering to the proteins produced by ribosomes).

Also, AP biology doesn't prepare you for college. I fived the AP test 4 years ago and I'm really glad I didn't jump straight into upper division genetics even though I could have.

>> No.1966758

1. Yes

2. No. Ribosomes are located in the cytosol and on the rough ER lysosomes are transported near the periphery of the cell

3. True.

4. No.

5. No

Dude ribosomes produce all the proteins in a eukaryotic cell. Lysosomes break them down. That's all you needed to know to answer 4/5 of these questions.

Correct!

Lipid synthesis occurs in which eukaryotic organelle?

1. smooth ER

2. nucleolus

3. lysosomes

4. rough ER

5. mitochondria

>> No.1966770

1 is wrong. Ribosomes on their own cannot produce lysosomes as they cannot create membranes.

Correct. only a few more.

Which of the following is correct regarding cooperativity of an allosteric enzyme?

1. A product binds to an active site and inhibits enzyme activity.

2. A substrate binds to an active site and inhibits enzyme activity.

3. An enzyme complex contains all of the things needed for the pathway.

4. A molecule bound to one subunit of a complex enzyme affects all of the subunits.

5. Several reactants can be catalyzed by the same enzyme.
