I'm not good at math and it pisses me off, i wanna at least get a C for my last semester and the last test involves finding the surface area of a triangle and something about Pythagorean theorem, could someone please explain it so an idiot could under stand it?

Pic somewhat related

Read No. 2 and use Google for learning to Pythagorean theorem. For any math related shit that you may have trouble with later on in your schooling, consult Khan Academy.

Triangles don't have surfaces dipshit.

Why ask google when it will explain the thing in the most difficult way possible and by the time you finished reading it you even more puzzled

The area of a triangle is 1/2 * the base * the height

So in your image if you wanted to find the area of that triangle you would do 1/2 * b * a or 1/2 * 4 * 3

Draw a rectangle on a piece of paper, and cut it out. Then mark a random point on one side, and cut a triangle out like the picture shows. Leftover bit is the same as the first triangle.

It then follows that each triangle is half the area of the original rectangle. This means if you half the area of the rectangle, you get the triangle, represented by the equation:

Area = (base*height)/2

Pythagorean Theorem: a^2 + b^2 = c^2
Area of triangle: 1/2*b*h

Now you too can become a triangle god! Go forth and conquer 7th grade math!
