What exactly is the space-time continuim(as described in sci-fi works)? What would happen if the space-time continuim was ripped open(by say, an explosion or some massive gravitational force) or by technology we are not even aware of?

I swear to god I'm being baited by a troll but...

Space-time continuum is a fancy term for "reality" as we know it. If you rip a hole in reality, congratulations first of all, because that would imply doing something which breaks the laws of physics. So, good luck predicting what would happen.

I swear to god...

You're imagining in your mind, I assume, a hole in the fabric of reality. Like a literal hole. And I imagine you think it would work like opening the door to an airplane in flight, where lots of stuff would get sucked out.

The answer is either yes or no. Which one is right? Well we won't know until we have to deal with a hole in the fabric of reality. And I can assure you, if it's yes and the universe is destroyed, we wouldn't ever find out.

I think they call it a black hole...
