Time's up, Type Ia. These are white dwarves that siphon gas off a neighbouring binary red giant. Once the mass of the white dwarf (and hydrogen envelope from red giant) reaches the Chandresakar limit (1.44 Solar Masses), it explodes. Always with this mass, this is why they all have the 'same' energy (same, astronomically).

Correct.

jeopardy had a pretty good idea - they give you the answer and you give the question. But it got really lame whenever their "answers" seemed more like long winded questions and the questions the contestants were supposed to supply became no more than "what is ___"

the outer part because it spins as fast as the inner part even though it shouldnt (hence the need for dark matter)

>> No.1829074

>>1829049

Not sure if this is what you're asking, but "What is the outer part of the galactic disk?"

I just know that it's only the parts of the galaxy farther from the center that show the unexpected velocity-vs-mass-inside-their-radial-position relationship.

No, what you're referring to is one of the leading inclinations toward dark matter, however your answer is incorrect, or at least be more specific when referring to the geometry of the galaxy...

I agree, it's not a very good question, however, still no,

Dark must be distributed spherically symmetric with approximate constant density (this is the geometry that gives rise to flat rotation curves), putting most of it in the halo of the galaxy. The halo is the part of the galaxy above and below its disk.
