Question. Has it been determined that all galaxies and solar systems spin roughly the same direction?

>> No.1698726

What do you mean? The Great Attractor?

>> No.1698728

yes they spin in the same direction, but you have to flip some of them over first

Hahaha that's some funny shit!

Amazing stuff.

Only have a general understanding of the Great Attractor so far. Is it called that because we are being influenced by it or pulled towards it?

No, but it has recently been determined is that the universe is not created by god.
This thread is now about the implications of this new discovery.

Pulled toward it, along with a shitton of other stuff.
Is it a supermassive galaxyswarm, a giant black hole?
Or an enormous BRICK that we're going to go splat on? We don't know.

your momma is so big they call her the great attractor

If by "recently" you mean "postulated at least 2000+ years ago" and steadily and gradually reinforced with observation and experiment over the succeeding millenia, then yeah. Even referring to Hawking's latest deal, he hasn't said anything we didn't have already figured out with confidence at least a couple decades ago. We just have to remind the unwashed masses every now and again.

I am hoping for a giant brick.
