does random exist in the scientific world?

>> No.1673744

Yes, quantum mechanics

/thread

>> No.1673766

No. Only patterns too large or complex for us to see.

>> No.1673836

That question is undecidable; whatever works.

Thanks for enlightening us, /sci/.

yes, no, maybe so.
in that order.

Actually, I do not believe in quantum randomness. that's bullshit.
Just because you can change the outcome of something because you measured it doesn't mean you've effectively changed or manipulated a deterministic environment, it just means we haven't figured out just to what infinitecimal degree the mechanisms of measure we use have over the outcome we're measuring.

lrn2Bell's Inequality faggot.

Random, but predictable, given sufficient sample size.

Simple answer: no. :/

Randomness does not negate probability but probability does interfere with all of our prediction's precision of past, present and future.

yes, the word exists. for a few reasons.
1) in math random is a concept used in stats.
2) quantom mechanins are (sort of) random
3) in the testing of theories, sometimes certain aspects are "randomised". like who gets the placebo and who gets the real viagara.

Quantum mechanics are statistics physic. It has a part of randomness but it's a predictible "randomness".
