some give everyone the same test for fairness and have strict proctoring to prevent cheating.
if the test were multiple choice, it would usually be randomly generated.
during my undergrad the calc tests were all written, not multiple choice.
to prevent students from copying each other but preserve fairness, for both multiple choice or written tests, they only have 4-10 "different" tests with different numbers but the ideas of the questions remained the same.
so it is possible to cheat on the tests even if it's "randomized".
