>During a press availability this week, the administrator for Commercial Space Transportation at the Federal Aviation Administration, Kelvin Coleman, said the agency is working with the company to try to facilitate the Starship launch-licensing process.
>"They're looking at a pretty aggressive launch schedule this year," he said. "They're looking at, I believe, at least nine launches this year. That's a lot of launches. If you're doing modifications and doing them one by one, that's a lot of work. We've been talking to SpaceX constantly around the clock, coming together and trying to figure out how do we do this. We're invested with the company, and so we'll work with them to get them back going as soon as they can."

Does moonship make any sense? Why to put a fucking 50m building on the moon? Its too complex and inefficient for a 6 days mission with 3 astronauts. And you would need AT LEAST 10 launches to use this shit as a lander, and dont say "but i can lauch 100T to the moon" so i think whos gonna pay that? I'm not saying "CHINA COLLAPSE IMMINENT", there isn't much of a living standard to collapse, it's still a 3rd world country.
I'm simply questioning if you know about the housing crisis that is going on. Right now. This very moment. Not one month, not two weeks, but right now. Evergrande finally got liquidated a few weeks ago, housing prices are falling, mortage rates are being cut by 20%+ to boost housing sales in the provinces, banks are buying USD en-masse under instructions from the Party. IIRC 200 billion USD was about to injected from the federal govt, with more measures on the local scale. China's stock market looks like some cryptocurreny now, with a 60% loss from the top in 2021, breaking decades long supports by now. And going by the latest reports, manufacture is 5x more expensive then its economic neighbors.
Where will the sitation go? Nobody knows, but no "leader of the space race" has suchy a volatile economic sitation. You might want to get your GDP per capita in the tier of "developed" before going to play with technology and science.

Unfortunately, I can't recommend you much because of the immense amount of bias coming from the CCP. Economic data is mostly locked away, and the rest is in a language that most outsiders don't understand. And in situations like these, it's incredibly easy to hide/misconstrude information. Take for example the bank runs we had a while back, the only reason we got to know about them is because some videos about people shouting in Chinese jumped over the Great Firewall.
But if you look, you will find them. Large Western investment advisory firms tend to report to the best of their abilities since their money depends on it, but then there is American idelogical bias coming in.
And always keep in mind the macro
>corrupt government at every level, lies are embeded everywhere
>aging population, 0 immigration to fill the gap
>rising manufacturing costs
>active cockblock to transitioning to a service based economy primarily by the US
>reversal of market liberalization and increasing control under Xi

>We are launching a lunar lander as part of the CLPS program. We plan to launch around Nov 2021. Our mission will be approximately 3 weeks long because we expect our hardware to freeze during the lunar night. We will spend about 1 week in transit to the moon, and approximately 2 weeks broadcasting to Earth from the surface. We will want to attempt to estiablish communication after the lunar night, but we doubt our hardware will survive.

>SpaceX seeks a waiver to launch Starship “at least” nine times this year
Im thinking its going to go something like this. Even if not all this year.

>IFT3: booster RUD after flip, ship reaches engine cutoff but is lost during coast phase
>IFT4: booster flip successful, loses control during descent = FTS, ship coasts and burns up on reentry
>IFT5: booster descent successful, engines cut off premptively during splashdown = RUD. ship breaks apart during reentry
>IFT6: booster successfully splashes down, first recovery. ship reentry successful, engines cut off during landing = RUD
>IFT7: booster lands on water, ship finally "lands" successfully on water, first recovery.
>IFT8: booster lands on water, ship goes into orbit for the first time. circles the earth several times before landing on water.
>IFT9: booster attempts to boostback to starbase, launch tower attempts to grab it but it explodes. ship goes to orbit, returns to land upright on a barge successfully.
>IFT10:booster lands on water while launch tower is repairing (cant land on barge since no legs), ship tests delivery of 20 starlink satellites before landing on barge.
>IFT11:booster lands on water, ship tests delivery of 80 starlink satellites, lands on barge.
>IFT12:booster attempts chopstick maneuver again, succeeds. first "dry" recovery of booster. ship returns to starbase to land on pad for first time.

I reckon it will take at least nine launches to get past each of the failure points and get to upright landings of both stages reliably.

glushko: i'll help
korolev: shockedpikachuface
korolev: GLUSHKO! once you're done betraying me, sign off on my proposal for the kerolox-powered R9 ICBM! and build an engine for it with 40% more thrust and 30% higher chamber pressure than the RD-107! and do it in six months!
glushko: fine, but this would be easier if i didn't have to use liquid oxygen...
korolev: no!
-six months later-
korolev: BREZHNEV! GLUSHKO STILL HASN'T FINISHED THE RD-111 YET! LET ME FIRE HIM AND REPLACE HIM WITH SOME GUY WHO'S NEVER MADE A ROCKET ENGINE BEFORE!
glushko: i'm never working with you again
historians: why would glushko betray korolev like this?

This is very pessimistic. IFT2 cleared multiple failure points (all engines fire full duration, stage sep, most of the burn) and it's reasonable to expect a comparable rate of improvement going forward. Also your expected booster performance for IFT3 is worse than what it did in IFT2, and I don't know why SpaceX would lose comms with Starship if it reaches engine cut-off with no problem: It's not like they don't know how to communicate with a spacecraft. And I'm skeptical of them crashing the booster into the launch tower, since that would be extremely costly and get the regulators worked into a frenzy; they won't try it unless they're very confident in success.

to add to this, especially with starlink launches
just keep launching them until the landing procedures are good enough before trying landing on a tower, if the speculation by that dude that makes infographics is correct, Starlink launch cost with Starship even expended is comparable to F9 right now
they just need to have a high enough production output of ships, boosters and engines

Another successful Starlink mission, ho hum.
I hadn't realized, but with Falcon 9's 300 launch milestone, they just snuck ahead of the Soviet Voskhod. At this rate they'll beat out Molniya's 323 launches in just a few months. They won't pass Proton's 429 launches until next year though.

obviously you can offer services to the government and still be commercial
so it has to be something to do with project management or oversight, or perhaps ownership of the IP?

>NASA is collaborating on developing a space station owned, built, and operated by a private company — either Axiom Space, Voyager Space, or Blue Origin. NASA is giving each company hundreds of millions of dollars in funding and sharing their expertise with them.
>Eventually, they will select one company to officially partner with and have them replace the ISS. NASA says this will help them focus on deep space exploration, which they consider a much more difficult task.

If they abandon space station crap they better right quick switch gears to building probes for ice giants, THE METHANE LAKES ON TITAN, Europan and Enceledaian tunnelers, etc. because they wont have a consistent launch vehicle, they wont have space stations to take care of and all thats left are rinky dink satellites that anyone can launch, or deep space probes that can only happen through governmenr funding as there is no return on investment for those.

yes, I hope they start focusing on that as quickly as possible
funding launching shit and having a station on the moon, launching deep space probes, maybe start funding more niche or experimental in-space propulsion technology to get those probes to the outer planets more quickly
maybe partly fund or be the anchor tenant/customer for space stations until a commercial business case emerges (in space manufacturing perhaps, drug research, space tourism, who knows)
