What makes these two colors special?

They are unique colors on the color spectrum which makes them very special. Some might say equally as special as all the other colors

Magenta isn't a colour so it can't illuminate anything.
The best you can do is combine a red and blue light in which case the described behaviour is obvious.

I was obsessed with these two colors when I was younger, around 17 yo, and I remember trying to come up with a theory about their importance lol.
I always found it super interesting that they are the ones you see in chromatic aberrations. Also, if you get high, those are the two main colors that seem to show during trips.

If green is the color of the natural then magenta is the color of the supernatural
one has a fixated wavelength on the middle, the other is extra-spectral

Cyan and yellow are the closest colors to green, and there's always some spread in the wavelengths emitted and absorbed, thus there will be some overlap.

Magenta is literally just a mix of blue and red so of course it illuminates red and blue objects.

Magenta and cyan are the most important colors they don’t teach in Kindergarten.

Very true, people also mistakenly believe Cyan to be light blue and the pure blue to be dark blue

It should be trivial to figure it out once you consider the dual nature of color as a specific color to the mind but a distinct wavelength or mix of such to a measuring devise.

colors don't matter
