As for what happens next over the next couple millennia, your guess is probably as good as mine, but one positive is that the climate should stabilize at some point.

Modern batteries have about 0.72 MJ/kg now. So twice that and EVs are about 3 times as efficient as regular gas cars so gasoline is only 15 times as dense in real terms.

EVs manage to get comparable range to their regular gas car equivalents by making the batteries very large.
