What does his regular day looks like? Wakes up and try to figure out the mysteries of the universe or has he given up because of his age and decline of cognitive functions?
Do you think he feels satisfied as in for what he did in his life for math and physics or frustrated for not doing better on string theory or figuring out other major things?

No. Because even if string theory isnt the theory of everything, it's still important for pure math.

non math guy here
I've heard some say that string theory is more akin to calculus because it's more a mathematical toolbox than a physical theory
calculus was made to address physics problems, but it's become a pure math subject

is this true?

I met him IRL. My father-in-law dragged me to a dinner/talk thing (my dad-in-law is one of those leftist post modern "scientism" types, so I didn't have high hopes).
I THOUGH Edward Witten would talk about "le science" like Bill Nye, but he actually talked about consciousness, reality, meaning, etc. He's literally what all those "spiritual gurus" WISH they were. Unironically he's enlightened by his own intelligence.
Also he looks like 100 years old.

I sat next to him once at a conference at Princeton. He was looking at some video on his phone during someone's talk and the music went off accidentally and everyone turned to look. It was kinda funny.

Anyway I've seen him a number of times at conferences asking questions or participating in discussion panels and his cognitive functions are not declining. Or at least even supposing there is some decline with respect to "peak Witten" the guy has built up a deeper understanding of theoretical physics than almost anyone over the decades, so he is still relevant.

Also while I'm at it in this post, I should clarify that he has not only (or even primarily) worked on string theory. You guys seem to think Witten=string theory, but he has done work on theoretical physics in general, including experimentally verified things like QCD and Chern-Simons theories.

Right after I found out that people at Penn State had plagiarized me (and after I made several remarks about Ashtekar et al.), the FBI swarmed Penn State because people heard the flesh-on-flesh slapping sound in the locker room where Sandusky was fucking a10yo boy in the ass, and then they described the anal sex slapping sound on TV all day for several months, and then all the plagiarists kept their jobs. That was (and is) the gayest thing I've seen on TV in my life, and it was 100% about jewish plagiarism.

It's an unfinished rough draft. The table of contents is pretty close to sone, but the rest isn't.
It will be probably a few weeks before I finish the rough draft, and then at least a few more as I produce the final draft that I will upload to viXra were you can find all of my papers, such as the one called SCP-001.

Dirac told Feynman his work was very nice but then asked, "Do you have an equation?"

>> No.15944834

Anyways, just since it got brought up again, I completely agree that Witten has written about things that are experimentally verified, and that he has opined on such things and expressed ideas that are his own original thoughts. However, when this topic came up last time, no one was able to show an instance in which Witten developed a falsifiable prediction which was verified by experiment. Not that I recall the details of the previous thread so well, but I think we can relax to condition to an instance in which Witten would have come up with a prediction that an experimentalist actually tested, finding that Witten was either right *or* wrong, and there are still no examples. Anyone have any examples? Witten whole-heartedly agreed with me when I said his research program was to catalog that which can be enumerated, and I have not seen anything in the handful of his papers I've looked at that would exceed that description. Are there any examples?

He seems to have his mind in order, he treats metaphysical categories as such and shuts the fuck up when asked to define them or put them in a coherent whole since he's deeply aware the scientific method is not up to that and it would be irrelevant and would come back to fuck him up.
