>Grandiose delusions, also known as delusions of grandeur or expansive delusions, are a subtype of delusion that occur in mental patients with a wide range of psychiatric disorders, including two-thirds of patients in a manic state of bipolar disorder, half of those with schizophrenia, patients with the grandiose subtype of delusional disorder, frequently as a comorbid condition in narcissistic personality disorder, and a substantial portion of those with substance abuse disorders.
>Grandiose delusions are characterized by fantastical beliefs that one is famous, omnipotent, wealthy, super intelligent or otherwise very powerful., the delusions are generally fantastic and typically have a religious, science fictional, or supernatural theme.

>There is a relative lack of research into grandiose delusions

How come scientists don't do research on grandiose delusions? Does the possibility of realizing that they're not a super intelligent science genius frighten them off the topic or is there some other reason the topic is avoided?

Grandiose delusions can easily be falsified. Scientific theory can not easily be falsified because many of its hypotheses have already been tested. Scientific delusion is when hypotheses are sold as theories or even facts. For example: safe and effective are sold as facts but are hypotheses in the testing phase.

It kind of works but it can lead to very convoluted writing. Let's take op's example. How one would write the statement "Trust the science" alone, while emphasizing that one should not in fact "trust the science"? This whole thing is already a mess as I am having to use quotes to state that "trust the science" is a phrase which I am referring to and not part of the argument, fuck.

It can be healthy.
one is within the virtue of fortitude. It's an important cardinal virtue that all men should strive for.
In fortitude you basically are forced to believe that you are always 'bigger' than your task. Weakness, doubt, quitting, half-heatedness, etc.. Is a failure to have that virtue
"FORTITUDE - Always be bigger than your task = Valour = the choice and willingness to confront agony, pain, danger, uncertainty, or intimidation = never be overwhelmed to the point that your Insight and your Virtues are affected."
However this involves tasks that are within your circle of competence. You have to know the extent of your competence and then patiently wait for a good opportunity within your circle of competence, before decisively capitalizing on a task.
Fortitude also comes into play on environmental factors like cold weather, financial issues, gf wife drama, loss, death of loved ones, trauma, illness, etc... and in those you have to believe you are bigger than your task.
It can occasionally help in learning new tasks and 'fake it till you make it' endeavors but you have to do the proper learning once you get there and can't feel you've made it and don't need the wisdom of your craft.
If you suck, and you don't know what you are good at and you magically think that you are superior and like a drug fiend find rationalizations to support your 'thing', than yes, that is mental illness.

Catch 22 situation here.

Are they narcissistic delusions if i recognize them as such?

I have created the term "subclinical narcissist" to deal with this conundrum.

Because one of the main diagnostic criteria for narcissism requires inability to recognize it. Another major requirement for any disorder is that it actually cause a significant detriment to their life, that is, it is maladaptive. And since i recognize my beliefs about myself are potentially delusional i am hedging my bets. I would think that would describe any healthily ambitious person. But the scale of my ambitions are ridiculous. Enough for me to call them grand delusions.

>> No.15885542

>>15885218
I think it becomes narcism at exactly the point where your self perception diverges from reality. If you are smart and also show it off then you're a pretentious asshole, if you are not smart but act like everyone is dumber than you then you're a narcissist.

Just came here to say OP's pic is cringe af fr fr no cap. Printing your repetitive platitudes in front of a "manly man" in front of bookshelf doesn't give said platitudes more authority. It's just an obvious alt-right pseud fedora neckbeard trumpist MIGA NPC dogwhistle. Btw that dude has tattoos on his hands, making him a degenerate, i.e. the opposite of someone you want to be associated with. To prove my point you will respond to my post by calling me a tranny, libtard or whatever your Manichaeistic worldview considers the current thing, even though nothing in my post indicates such a thing about me.
