How the fuck was he extremely brilliant? Could someone enlighten me on how brilliant people such as Von Neumann went about thinking and figuring things out.

Trolling is not permitted outside of /b/. You're on a board that champions and embraces the methodical approach to scientific discovery. You really ought to do better. Do consider carving out some time to reflect on what you typed.

Who was the second smartest genius of all times? I'd say Hamilton.

Would he have been as smart had he not been born to a noble family who satisfied his every curiosity with the best libraries and educators money could buy from the time he could speak? I do wonder just how many of these prodigies are a product of hype. There can be little doubt that he was a genius, but to what extent he was truly "the smartest man who ever lived" is difficult to gauge.

One article pointed out that the most brilliant people in history had personal tutors. And JvN had parents that went all in to let him maximize his potentials.
Personal tutors are passee today and only the stupid get specially adapted education.

We are deep and still sinking deeper into stagnation, we simply have to go back to what worked.
