Insanity has always been defined relative to society. Under capitalism, "sane" means productive, above all. There are acceptable levels of stress, depression, personality disorders, which do not interfere with productivity and are therefore not considered "insane" or at least not worth treating after a cost/benefit analysis. Many maladaptive behaviours go unnoticed; psychopathy and narcissism are even encouraged. Capitalism profits from deciding what does and does not count as insanity. Your personal hangups about consenting adults sucking cock are but a drop in this bucket.

A while back, I tried finding exactly who is in charge of writing the DSM. The information has been all but scrubbed from the internet. What does exist still is a study someone did that showed something like 85% of the members involved had direct conflict of interest and blatant personal financial incentives. Its a massive farce. And so many people treat it as gospel.
